Congratulations to Sam Hornish, Jr. on his First Indy 500 Victory!

| I would like to send a very respectful congratulations to Sam Hornish, Jr. for his last turn, last lap pass to be the first driver to the checkered flags, winning the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. Sam drove an incredible race which backed up his pole position performance. Everyone watching held their breath those last two laps as Sam made not one, but two attempts to get around Marco Andretti. |
| While I do not personally know Sam that well, we did grow up racing karts together in Ohio. In fact, my very first kart race ever was against him at a road course in the middle of a corn field in Columbiana, Ohio. We raced for several years in the Ohio Sprint Series and Gold Cup Championship prior to moving on to different forms of racing. Sam took his talent through the ranks of open wheel cars and eventually into the IndyCar Series; I chose to follow a career in sports car and endurance racing. It was impressive to turn on the television and see Sam Hornish racing in each professional series in his progression (that goes for any of our other original peers from our karting years, for that matter). |
| It makes us especially proud to see a driver from our same roots succeed strictly on talent. Sam is an example of hard work and skill put together with tons of determination; instead of unlimited funds and/or a racing family background. Congratulations, Sam, and continue the perfect drives! |
